Marmotte, Col-du-Galibier_South

9.95

Part of the Marmotte Grand Tour (most famous cyclosportive). You ascend past the snow line on this epic trek, probably the most strenuous section of the Marmotte cyclosportive event. On location, with the thin oxygen at higher altitudes, your lungs would be doing extra duty. Starting out from the south of Valloire ski resort, you peddle hard, then transition to fairly even valley terrain. Looming over you when you pass the famous bend at Lachat is the summit still well in the distance. The gradient of the imposing climb ahead rarely eases up. Those who are strong-willed and strong-lunged arrive at the crest and then descend to the Col du Lautaret.
