Part 18 of the Route des Grandes Alpes (Great Alpine Road), the ultimate cycling dream. Mountain pass in the Alps, 1,613m. From Le Grand-Bornand, the Col de la Colombiere is 11.7 km long, altitude gain is 690m, the average grade is 5.9%. After reaching the pass you will descend down to the village of Le Reposoir. From Le Reposoir you will have another rather hard 4.5km long climb with an average grade of 7.4% followed by a descent to the village of Romme. The views from the summit are splendid, and there is a restaurant and a parking area for hikers. Col de la Colombiere has been crossed numerous times during TdF events.
